Chris
Hart-Henderson, owner of Heart Springs Design,
is a licensed landscape contractor with
over 20 years landscape design and gardening
experience in the high, dry, cold intermountain
west and Central Oregon.
She teaches college-level
landscape design and horticulture courses,
has spoken at many seminars and conferences,
and studied landscape architecture at Oregon
State University. Her passion for using
native and regionally compatible plants
to create casual natural landscapes has
gleaned her several state and regional design
awards.
Chris' passion for creating
exciting regional landscapes that are sustainable
has evolved organically out of living, gardening,
and playing outdoors in the Central Oregon
area since 1984. Chris explains, "I'm completely
and deeply in love with Central Oregon.
The abundant beauty surrounding this fragile
High Desert region is an open invitation
to indulge my desire to be outdoors and
teaches me how to live lightly on the planet.
My sustainable design process
and approach create a colorful regional
landscape that matures with grace and effortless
harmony. I combine my design expertise,
with solid knowledge of hydraulics and irrigation,
and garden maintenance to provide the client
with a holistic landscape approach. As a
fervent advocate for native plants, I'm
passionate about preserving the natural
beauty of this area through my own and others
continued education in conservation methods.
This ensures a healthy balanced
ecosystem that also provides ample pleasures
for the discerning gardener or conservationist
client. My landscape designs combine the
best selection of plants to achieve a truly
unique regional look with regionally adaptable
exotic plants from similar regions of the
world. This technique thrills the client
and thrives over time, rather that just
survives."
